5” Miniature Railway

Our miniature railway is yet another great attraction to be seen at the railway. The railway is usually worked by a battery loco, although on some special events this year, a steam loco may be in operation! This is the first thing that visitors will see when they arrive at the railway, so make sure you come and have a ride.

The photos below show the track leaving Shepherdswell Miniature Station and continuing gently along the back of the picnic area in this beautiful location.

Our resident locomotives consist of a model Class 33 and a model North British Diesel shunter.

The Class 33 Diesel carries the identification number 33008 and can easily haul 2 passenger carriages which it pulls regularly on running days. A fantastically reliable and smooth loco.

Simplicity, our oldest miniature locomotive is modeled on a North British Diesel and has the identification EKR 7. Simplicity has been at the EKR since we built the model railway and has a fond place in many of our volunteer’s hearts.

Unless adverse weather conditions dictate otherwise the Miniature Railway is open on all running days including the Santa By Train Specials.
