STATEMENT REGARDING CONVID-19
The impact of Covid-19 in the UK and around the world at present may be so severe that there is a real risk that we, the East Kent Railway may cease to exist before the freedom of movement restrictions are lifted.
We rely on people like you to visit and spend a few pounds with us, that’s what keeps the lights on and the wheels turning.
The East Kent Railway currently has NO income and is currently not covered by any Government funding scheme. The longer this goes on the quicker we will exhaust our funding reserves. We have not operated a revenue-generating public train service since December 24th.
This means a fleet of trains, EMU, DMU, DEMU and coaching stock will be at real risk of being sold for scrap. Tens of thousands of pounds worth of assets will likely go with them. Years of volunteer labour will be lost along with the last live link to the Kent Coalfields. A new pacer train that has been paid for prior to the pandemic is due to be delivered and could immediately leave for scrapping for little to no return on the investment.
As well as providing a family day out, we support our community with our all-new cafe as a well-used meeting point, our woodlands are used by dog walkers, the railway volunteers are like a family. There is a real risk that this could be all be gone or financially ruined by no fault of our own.
There has never been a more important time than now to support the railway. If you can, please donate whatever you can to our cause.
Would you like to Gift Aid your donation?
East Kent Railway Trust would like to reclaim the tax on eligible donations.
If you are not a UK taxpayer, or if you do not wish Gift Aid to apply to your donation, please contact us on 01304 832042 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Heritage railway was only charging £1 person for rides and my grandson aged 2 and a half was thrilled as he loves trains. Shepherdswell is a lovely setting. The staff (volunteers) were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
A fun and inexpensive afternoon trip (especially with children)” Heritage train rides available here circa 1957. Over the Bank Holiday entry was £1 per person. There is a miniature steam railway for the kids.
A lovely little treat for Easter Sunday, £1 each. A fantastic setting for a train ride with a beautiful little station in Sheperdswell. Nothing beats daffs and spring sunshine. The train ride is great and the staff all really friendly.
