Welcome to East Kent Railway

East Kent Railway has something for everyone

From our award-winning visitor centre to our beautiful woodland walks and our lovingly restored heritage trains to our informative museums the East Kent Railway has something to offer all the family to enjoy.

The East Kent Railway is fundraising to restore its much loved “Thumper” unit.

The Thumper, 205001 also known as 1101, was the first built of its type. It survived 50 years on the mainline and the Cowden Rail Disaster and is an important piece of British history.

Please help us keep this unit alive and working for all to enjoy!

There is something for the Whole Family

A Fantastic Day Out

Once a thriving industrial line serving the Kent Coalfield, the four-mile round trip takes you on a scenic journey between the pretty villages of Shepherdswell and Eythorne.

Rolling countryside, steep chalk-lined cuttings and the fascinating Golgotha Tunnel make this a visit to be remembered.

We are located in Station Road, Shepherdswell
